The land of Lothric is a deadly place, and Dark Souls 3 doesn’t go out of its way to lend a hand. I’m here to help.
What follows is a combination of tips for people who are new to Dark Souls—i.e. watch out for mimics!!—and things that are specific to Dark Souls 3. I’ll be updating this post as people dig into the game and discover what else is hidden.
Please drop your own tips into the comments!
Pick Whatever Class You Want, It’s Not A Big Deal..
There aren’t specific “class” designations in Dark Souls 3, outside of what you arbitrarily pick in the beginning. Even if you decide to start out as a warrior, it’s possible to become a sorcerer later. The only difference is that you’ll open the game with slightly different stats and starter equipment. Everything else in Dark Souls 3 is the same for everyone, and it’s even possible to respec via an NPC.

..But If You’re Having Trouble, Choose These
Dark Souls 3 doesn’t have a difficulty levels to choose from; everyone is on the same playing field. That said, some classes have things a little easier than others early on. If you keep dying over and over, think about switching over to the knight or pyromancy classes. With the knight, you’ll start with bulky armor, in addition to a shield. With the pyromancer, you can toss powerful fire magic.

Here’s A Great Spot To Farm For Souls Early In The Game
Kotaku’s Chris Person has a handy guide to start racking up souls early on:
Spend A Few Minutes Killing That Bad Ass Dragon
Dragons are cool, but they’re also prone to killing you all the time with fire. This particular dragon, found in the High Wall of Lothric, is hiding some loot that’s tough to grab without shooing it away. Fortunately, all it takes is a bow, a few minutes of patience, and a ton of arrows to take the beast down. It’s possible to snipe the dragon from a few places nearby—just make sure to keep your distance. Near death, the dragon will fly away, and the path clears up for you.

Not All Flasks Are Made Equal
For the first time, Dark Souls has two flasks: estus and ashen. One refills your health, the other refills magic. There are also two upgrades: shards and bone dust. The former increases the number of flasks, the latter amps up its abilities. Depending on what kind of character you’re playing as, you may be more interested in refilling magic than health. (Sorcerers, for example, have access to health spells.) In that case, speak with the blacksmith and modify how many of each flask you have on-hand. It’s possible to have four estus flasks and two ashen flasks or two ashen flasks and four estus flasks. It’s up to you.

Bow And Arrows Are Your Best Friend
Look, Dark Souls 3 is a tough game, and you need every advantage you can get. That’s where the bow comes in handy. See a group of enemies up ahead? Shoot one of them with an arrow and they’ll come running after you, while the others (usually) stay behind. Is an enemy charging your way? Snipe them in the head with an arrow and it’s likely to stagger them for a few seconds. Learn to love being cheap and dirty with the bow and arrow; there’s no shame in it.

Enemies Will Stop Running After You..Eventually
You’re likely to be in lots of situations where you’ve been overwhelmed by enemies and the situation is looking bleak. That’s when it’s useful to run the hell away and live to fight another day. If you put enough distance between you and an enemy, they’ll get bored and head back to their guard post. This can be used ‘n abused, if you’re patient; it’s possible to hit an enemy, run away, and repeat the process until they’re dead. This is even easier with a bow and arrow!

Summoning Makes Dark Souls Less Lonely
A hardcore Souls player might say a “true” fan plays the game solo, but screw that! If you want jolly cooperators to ease the burden, go right ahead. The game doesn’t really explain how co-op works, but it’s simple enough. When you beat a boss or use an ember, you’ll be able to see “summon” signs on the ground. These might be NPC characters or other players, depending on the sign. With Bloodborne, From Software finally introduced the ability to matchmake with other friends using a password system, and that’s present in Dark Souls 3, too.

Armor Isn’t That Important, Focus On Looking Cool
It’s easy to get bogged down in stats, but while armor plays a role, it won’t usually make or break a fight. (That’s less true if you’re going for a “tank” build, though.) You’re going to find lots of equipment while journeying Lothric, and it’ll be tempting to ignore clothing that doesn’t make you stronger. That’s an option, but that means you’re gonna get stuck with some boring armor. Mix it up! Try something weird! Worst case, you go back to the old armor.

There’s A Quick Way To Access Your Favorite Item
If you hold up or down on the d-pad, it’ll scroll to your first item or spell.
Fight One Enemy At A Time
One enemy might not be that tough, but two or three? Things can get out of control quickly in Souls, which is why you should avoid the temptation to attract the attention of too many creatures. If you can focus on one enemy at a time—again, the bow and arrow helps with this—it makes combat more manageable. In a pinch, items like firebombs can be useful to collectively stun enemies.

Use Your Damn Items
Items and souls are scarce for a while, but you’ll have way too much shit by the end of the game. My inventory is full of items that I should have used, as I kept telling myself “oh, maybe I’ll need it later.” Apparently, later means “never.” Make use of those magical coatings for your weapons that let you attack a little harder. Equip an ember to get a little more health. Go wild!

How Come I Can’t Roll Worth A Shit?
That’s the “equip load” stat, and you can upgrade it. It’s easy to get overencumbered in Dark Souls 3, and it’s most noticeable when you roll. The more overencumbered, the slower your rolls. Given how crucial rolling is to dodging attacks, this can be a huge problem. If you’re playing as a tank who is meant to take endless hits from the enemy, maybe you don’t care, but for most players, you’ll want to find a balance between armor and efficient rolling.

There’s A Hidden NPC Sitting In Firelink Shrine
It’s possible to make it through most of Dark Souls 3 and not know what to do with the boss souls dropped by the game’s most powerful creatures. You can consume them and quickly level up, but you might be tempted to turn them into unique sets of armor, items, and weapons. The NPC who takes care of this for you is hiding in plain sight: they’re sitting on a throne in Firelink Shrine.

The Fire Keeper Enjoys Dancing
Try using emotes on the Fire Keeper in Firelink Shrine and see what happens.
Check Each Weapon’s Attribute Bonus
Let’s say you’ve decided to focus on dumping upgrade points into strength. When you come across a new weapon, make sure to see what stat it gains an “attribute bonus” from. If you’re choosing between two nearly identical swords, for example, but one of them gets a E attribute bonus for strength and the other gets a C, you might want to consider the C; it means you’ll get bonus points for being a strength-based character. Different weapons have different bonuses!
For example, I may have 10 tabs open during a session. A lot of times I will close all but one tab and then close Chrome. It pretty much opens all tabs that I had opened at any time during the previous session. Chrome opens previous tabs on launch. If throughout that session I close 5 of the tabs and at some point after that I close Chrome, the next time I open Chrome all 10 tabs will open.

Run After Those Glowing Lizards
They seem like very nice creatures, but they also drop the rarest items, like the twinkling titanite upgrade material. After you’ve killed one, though, it’s gone for good. However, if you’re not able to take them down before they disappear into the ether, simply warp to another part of the game and come back.

Attack Every Chest Before You Open It
There’s great treasure hiding in the chests of Lothric, but they’re also homes for one of the game’s nastiest enemies: mimics. Players will often drop a helpful note about mimics, but they’re just as likely to be tricking you, too. It’s possible to attack a non-mimic chest several times without destroying it, and if it happens to be a mimic, you’ll get a few attacks off before it can do anything. It’s definitely worth killing every mimic, though: they’re holding powerful items.

Don’t Accidentally Hit An NPC
They will fight you, try to kill you, and leave your game. That sucks. (That said, if you want their unique equipment, that’s the only option in front of you.)

The Lock-On Mechanic Is Your Friend
Even if you don’t lock-on to every single enemy while you’re fighting them, it’s useful to figure out who (and what) is hoping to kill you in Dark Souls 3. The lock-on will never target anything else friendly to you, such as an NPC, and if you’ve entered a room that seems suspiciously quiet, the lock-on can give you a heads up on what might be hiding in the shadows. (Or, often, above!)

Read The Messages Players Leave Behind
While it’s true that some people are tricksters, more often than not, the messages are helpful for figuring out where a bonfire is hiding or if an ambush is ahead. Players are able to rate messages in the world, and the ones with a ton of recommendations tend to be the most useful. Also, be a good Souls citizen and leave messages for others! It’ll make you feel good inside.

Not Every Wall Is A Wall
There are “illusionary walls” hidden in Dark Souls 3, and there’s no way to find them except to swing your sword around and see if a wall disappears. Sometimes, the game will hint at the location of an illusionary wall by teasing a nearby location that seems out of reach, an indication that you might want to start poking around. It’s also a good reason to read messages left by other players! If you find one sitting in front of a wall, it just might be an illusion.

Embrace Elemental Upgrades For Weapons
It won’t matter in the opening hours, but soon, you’ll gain access to elemental gems—fire, lightning, poison, etc. Though your gut might tell you to stick with infusions that continue upgrading your physical attack stats, consider making your sword into a fire sword. If an enemy is weak to fire, you’ll do a ridiculous amount of damage! By the end of the game, I was walking around with a couple weapons with various elemental advantages. Plus, if you’re not happy with an upgrade, there’s an item that’ll let you strip a weapon bare and start over.
Undead Burg
[edit]
Early on in the game, you can rest at the first bonfire in the Undead Burg and use it as your home base as you level up. The enemies near the building will net you a decent amount of souls early on, so hang around here for an hour or so to prepare your character for the challenges ahead.

Once you get the the bridge with the drake at the end, go half-way down the bridge and then down the staircase to your right. Notice that the drake breathes fire, killing many undead and gaining you up to 555 souls. Once down the staircase, go through the entrance leading back to the bonefire in the Undead Burg (remember to lower the ladder). Once you have rested at the bonfire, climb back up the ladder and stairs and quickly step onto the bridge and then back down the stairs. This will trigger the dragon to breathe fire, killing the new undead, and normally gaining you another 555 souls. Run back to the bonfire, and repeat.
The Depths[edit]
If you can avoid being cursed, The Depths are a great place to farm for souls. An average run through the area only takes about 15 minutes, but it will gain you about 10000 souls each time. Sweep the area a few times to boost your character up enough to take down the Gaping Dragon with ease.
Darkroot Garden
[edit]
This place will get you around 7k souls every 3 minutes (depending on the player level and skill). In Darkroot Garden you will find a door sealed with a white circle in the center. The way to open the door is to purchase the key from the blacksmith it will (cost: 20,000). When you open the door you will find 6 human enemies: a Mage, a Clerk, an Axe Wielder, a Thief, an Archer and a Knight, each giving souls ranging from 1,000-5,000. The Knight, the Archer and the Thief are in ghost form so you cannot lock on to them which makes fighting them a bit of a hassle, but still you can avoid them by staying on the right side near the edge and pulling the other 3 enemies. Fighting only the three enemies will get you 5,000 each run.
A easier way is to equip light armor and run into the forest and attract all human and ghost enemies and run back to the gate, make sure they follow you. DO NOT RUN UP THE STAIRS! Just run to the path on the right side of the stairs to the end. They will not follow you that way and instead will run up the stairs and jump at you but they will miss and commit suicide. It takes about 2 to 3 minutes to do this. You don't have to be a high level. An easy way to level up.
Anor Londo
[edit]
There are six Sentinels that stand guard near the first bonfire in Anor Londo. Each one will net you 1500 souls. Take them out, rest at the bonfire, and repeat.
Once you get into the main building in Anor Londo there is a segment with a bonfire/silver knights that respawn/the sunlight knight(if still alive)If you have the covetous silver serpent ring(acquired on a ledge near the bottom of the Tomb of the Giants)this ring raises the soul amount of any kill this can net you 900 souls per silver knight and 1080 if you have the ring mentioned above. once you open all the doors on floor with the bonfire(4 knights on this floor in total)you can reset at the bonfire and get 4,000+ in a short time assuming that you can one hit kill them with magic or some other option depending on your character.
If you decide to kill Gwynevere in Anor Londo, most of the enemies there will disappear. However, 2 knight enemies will appear in the area right before you fought Smaugh and Ornstein. Killing these enemies will get you 5000 souls each, and can it can be done in a minute or two if you're a fairly high level. Unfortunately, they only respawn when warping to the 'Chamber of the Princess' bonfire. Once the two knights have been slain then take the stairs to the left and continue to the bonfire in the castle killing the Silver Knights for extra souls. From there warp back to the 'Chamber of the Princess' bonfire and the two knights will respawn. If you equip the Covetous Silver Serpents Ring then each knight is worth 6000 souls and each silver knight 1080 souls. This is 16, 320 souls each trip. Another option is to use a Homeward Bone or the 'Homeward' miracle (18 faith req) to quickly warp back to the 'Chamber of the Princess' bonfire after killing the two knights. ***note: on NG+ with the Covetous Silver Serpents Ring equipped each knight yeilds 18k souls.
The Duke's Archives
[edit]
After you get killed by Seath the Scaleless for the first time, you'll be imprisoned inside the Archives. After you escape, kill all the Pisaca, and turn off the warning siren, go back to the bonfire. The Pisca will have respawned, but they now huddle at the bottom of the chamber near Big Hat Logan's cell. Wear the Covetous Gold Serpent ring to increase humanity drop to about 50%. Not only do they drop 300 souls each, but every 3 or 4 will also drop a Humanity. Repeating this over and over can net you 3000 souls and a few Humanity in only a few minutes time.
Open Area After The Duke's Archives
[edit]
Just after you finish the Duke's Archives, but before you get to the Crystal Caves, there is an area outside with many blue golems. Killing them will grant you 800 souls each. There are 11 in the area for a total of 8800, or 10560 if you have either the ring or helm of Avarice on within about 5-8 min for a round trip. Just make sure you pull one from the group of three to avoid being out numbered; two are easily taken on.
This is also the place to farm blue titanite chunks, as with the golden serpent ring every 5-6 kills will net you one blue chunk.
Crystal Caves
[edit]
After fighting Seath the scaleless, you can active the bonfire and leave or take advantage of the clams in the previous room, Each clam nets 1000 souls, along with purging stones and twinkling titanite. After you've gathered all the twinkling titanite you want, head to firelink shrine and sell the purging stones to kingseeker frampt from 1000 souls apiece.
With the right strategy you can get yourself a total of 6k souls in 2-3 minutes aswell as a 50% chance of getting a purging stone & usually 1-3 twinkling titanites each time. Getting 99 purging stones nets you 99,000 souls from kingseeker.
Very effective Farming spot!
Summoning At Bosses[edit]
At any major boss battle, for example Priscilla the Crossbreed, place your summon sign at the nearest bonfire or right in front of the fog door. Allowing other players to summon you gives two major benefits. One, not losing accumulated souls upon failing. Two, netting a large amount of souls and one humanity upon success.
This is also an easy way to accumulate Sun Medals if you belong to the Warrior of Sunlight Covenant.
Tomb of the Giants[edit]
After the second bonfire, slay (or run) your way thru the skeletons until you reach the Pinwheel clones. After dispatching the 5 Pinwheels, wander in circles around in the lowest region until you have a large group of 'baby skeletons' (only 9 can spawn at once) following you. Head back towards the entrance ramp, equip a weapon that has a wide arc attack (such as an axe) and wait for them to bunch up, then swing for the fences. The baby skeletons only have ~50-100 hp, depending on your playthru, and damage that exceeds their max hp in one hit will result in 20% bonus souls. Each skeleton gives 100-200 (121-242 depending) souls, x a maximum of 9 will result in 900/1800-1089-2179 souls. Once the skeletons are dead, wait approx 10 seconds and head back down ramp into water. Run in a circle, and repeat. The skeletons also have a decent humanity drop rate (but it will fade if you kill them while standing in water, for when they respawn their drop fades away). Warning, the skeletons will inflict TOXIC status if they hit you too much, equip a Ring of the Evil Eye to counteract. This spot can easily net 250k souls in 2 hours, along with enough Humanity to max out Chaos Servant/Darkwraith covenants.
Firelink Shrine[edit]
The easiest way to get approximately 9900 souls is in the firelink shrine. You'll just have to do 3 things:
1.) Reach tomb of the Giants and recruit patches from there.
2.) After recruiting Patches, buy 99 prism stones from him (it only cost 10 each).
3.) Feed the prism stones to Kingseeker Frampt for 100 souls each. Which means, 99 prism stones = 9900 souls :) (This doesn't seem to work after a certain point due to patches{ To the game software, not the punk who kicks off the ledge ^^ }
Kiln of the First Flame[edit]
There are five black knights, each wielding either: a sword, a greatsword, an axe, a spear. They each drop a variety of black knight items, as well as a guarenteed chunk of titanite. The first knight wielding the sword drops a regular titanite chunk, the second with the greatsword drops a red titanite chunk, the third with a sword drops a regular titanite chunk, the fourth with the axe drops the white titanite chunk, and the fifth with the spear drops the blue titanite chunk.
Dark Souls 3 How To Level Up Fast Early
I found this the best way to get the chunks I needed, as well as netting a fair bit. Each knight in NG drops 1200 souls, and with the coveteous Silver Serpent Ring, that is 1440, let alone if you overkill(I just used pyromancy, with a Bellowing Dragon Crest Ring and Crown of Dusk, Ascended +5 Flame, took out each knight in 1 hit for Great Fireball. I just kept killing the first knight and warping to the Firelink Altar Lordvessel, as it was the fastest way to get the regular chunks I needed, as well as get a couple levels.
Painted World of Ariamis
After completing the majority of this zone, you will have a clear path opened up between the bonfire at the beginning of the zone and the fog gate in the back. Starting at the bonfire, go into the initial area, killing the 3 minor enemies here and then progress through the opened door. Killing the large gathering of 'goo warriors' is fairly easy if you have a weapon with either a sweeping attack or a long range (I really like using the +5 Titanite Catch Pole here). Simply strafe the majority of the enemies and take a swing or two when you are to the side of a group of them to make this really quick. Next, simply go through the bottom level of the open tower and cross the bridge, killing the 2 archers and 5 swordsmen. Finally, kill the knight at the end of the bridge to receive a large titanite shard (Every time!). This whole process takes around 4-5 minutes and is relatively easy. Depending on how confident you are, you can either run all the way back to the bonfire to reset, or jump off of the side of the bridge to speed things up a bit. All in all, the whole run should net you just over 11000 souls and a large titanite shard every time, and only takes about 5 minutes.
Comments
Whether it be for leveling up, upgrading weapons, or buying items; souls are a precious commodity in Dark Souls III. But actually plaything through the game is a risk for your hard-earned souls – two wrong deaths and they’re gone forever. Why risk it? For players looking to reliably farm thousands of souls consistently, look no further.
Note: To make the most of farming, equip both the Shield of Want and the Covetous Serpent Ring to maximize the amount of souls gathered.
Mid-Game Farming Spot
Barron Keep Bonfire
Once you have access to Farron Keep, playthrough the area until you’ve lit the bonfire located at the Farron Ruins. This is key for players in the mid-game.
From the bonfire, advance through the door and take a look at the oblivious three enemies located on the bridge. These are going to be your friends for the next hour or so.
The enemies on the bridge.
Ideally, the best way of safely taking out these enemies is with the pyromancer flame (or an equivalent magic). After a few attacks, the enemies should go down, and the souls will be yours.
Then, once they’re dead, collect any dropped items and return to the bonfire, rest, and repeat ad nauseum.
Late-Game Farming Spot
Dragon-Kin Mausoleum
For players late in the game, the old farming spot simply won’t do. You need something far more bountiful to satiate your thirst for souls. Luckily, such a place exists.
This late-game farming location can be found once you’ve gained access to the optional area, Archdragon Peak.
After defeating the Ancient Wyvern, you’re transported to the second bonfire found located at the Dragon-Kin Mausoleum. Prepare to get really comfortable here.
The knight always spawns here.
Just inside the doorway is an infinitely spawning knight. He spawns after an enemy upstairs rings a bell. His spawn location is on the other side of the room, and indicated by a glowing gold circle. Simply place yourself behind the spawning knight, wait for his silhouette to change from gold to normal colors, then backstab, kill, and repeat.
If done correctly, the knight will respawn every ten seconds or so, at the ring of the enemy bell upstairs. With the appropriate equipment, each kill will grant you 5,280 souls. Now you should be able to earn enough to upgrade, level up, and purchase anything you want.

Dark Souls 3 Soul Farming Locations
A glitch currently allows you to duplicate boss souls in Dark Souls III we're talking about up to 20,000 souls every 7 seconds, so you should definitely look at the steps below in order to give this a try and tell us in the comments below if it worked for you.
Here we go with a few steps:

Step 1:
Equip a shield that lets you parry (e.g. the Knight's starting shield).

Step 2:
Equip one single boss soul in the first quick item slot. Unequip all other quick item slots. It's important the boss soul has a confimation box when trying to consume it. Normal souls don't work because they don't have a confirmation box.

Hold the Down-Button at all times during the entire combo, then parry. When your shield is parallel to your character's shoulder (just 1 frame before he starts to drop it down) press the combo. It takes some practice to get the timing right.
When done correctly the confirmation box will show and your item select disappears. Then you can consume the soul and it stays in your inventory. Repeat as often as you like. A successful try takes 7 seconds. The Deacons of the Deep boss soul is from an early boss and gives you 20K souls. 20K souls per 7 seconds / 160K per minute / 9.6 million per hour.

You’re always in need of more souls in Dark Sous: Remastered. Souls are the currency of Dark Souls, and you’ll use them for everything — leveling up, purchasing items, or upgrading weapons. There are times you’ll be tantalizingly close to another level-up. To make your life slightly easier in the deadly world of Dark Souls, we’ve compiled a list of five locations that make farming easy.
As you progress in the story, you’ll find better and better locations for farming — culminating in the best possible spot in the later part of the game, after you’ve acquired the ability to warp to different bonfires. All farming basically follows the same strategy — you’ll want to find a location near a bonfire that’s packed with easy enemies to smash.
Farming is all about finding areas with lots of easy enemies that also give plenty of souls. We’ve got five pretty perfect spots listed below, in order of level. If you’re late in the game and need a boost, scroll down to the bottom of the guide.

5 Best Spots To Farm Souls (All Levels) | Farming Guide
Even if you’re extremely low level, here are five locations that make farming souls easy. Before you begin your farming, there are two items that are extremely helpful — they increase how many souls you earn while equipped, and both items can be stacked.
- Covetous Silver Serpent Ring:
- A ring that increases the amount of souls enemies drop by 20%. The ring is found late in the game, in the Tomb of Giants — to find it, look for a Bone Archer enemy near the first bonfire. Next to the Bone Archer, there’s a corpse by the ledge that’s holding a Soul of a Brave Warrior. Drop off the ledge here and follow the narrow path to the ring’s location. Enemies will spawn when you get near, so be prepared.
- Symbol of Avarice:
- A helmet that hurts you while it is equipped, it increases rare item drop rate and the amount of souls enemies drop. It stacks with the Covetous Silver Serpent Ring, so if you’ve got both items equipped, you’ll boost soul drops by 44%. This is an extremely rare item that (if you’re lucky) will drop from Mimics. There’s a less than 1% chance of it dropping, so if you really want this item, you’ll need to farm Mimics.
#1: Firelink Shrine (Very Low Level)
In the very first area of the game, you’ll probably need extra souls sometimes for leveling up or purchasing useful items. One of the earliest, and safest places to farm is at the Firelink Shrine itself. Once you unlock the aqueduct shortcut, simply run between the aqueduct and the Firelink Shrine bonfire.
There’s a small group of enemies here. You can kill them, or lure them off the ledge, then rinse and repeat. You won’t get many soul per cycle, but you will be able to safely recover any lost souls, and fighting the undead here is good practice for the future.
#2: Undead Burg (Very Low Level)
The Undead Burg is another great place for farming souls safely. Reach the bridge guarded by the big red dragon. When you try to cross, it will blast fire down the bridge. Find the nearby bonfire, and you can quickly earn a reliable 550 souls every two minutes or so.
To pull this off, go to the bridge upper level from the bonfire, and bait the dragon to start spitting fire. The fire will kill the undead enemies on the bridge, and you’ll earn the souls. Run back down to the bonfire and rest, and you can rinse / repeat as often as you like for quick souls. No fighting necessary.
#3: Darkroot Basin (Low Level)
The large, open Darkroot Garden area is full of simple-ish enemies you can hunt for 5,000-6,000 souls per run. Travel down from Andre the Blacksmith, past the Titanite Demon and into the forest area. Attack the illusory wall near a locked door in the Basin to reveal a hidden bonfire. You’ll need it for this farming spot and the next one.
Outside the locked door (which requires the key sold by Andre for 20,000 souls) — you’ll find a very large area with Stone Guardians, trees that come to life, poisonous lizards, and frog monsters. Wipe out everything in the area and sprint back to the hidden bonfire to reset. You can do this as often as you like, and works even up to the mid-point of the game. It’s especially useful for farming and earning the 20,000 souls you need to unlock the nearby door.
#4: Darkroot Basin (Mid Level)
Right through the door that requires the key you can purchase from Andre the Blacksmith for 20,000 souls, you’ll enter another large forest filled with spectral enemies. This is one of the best farming spots in the game, and you can easily earn 40,000 in just a few minutes. You can also easily die, as the opponents here are extremely varied — they’re human specters that are hard to see, but easy to trick.
Use a bow to lure individual enemies away from the pack, then back away into the corner of the stairs next to the ledge. The invisible enemies will chase you and attempt to circle around you. When they do, they’ll inevitably tumble off the cliff and die. You don’t even need to fight them — eventually you’ll be tough enough that fighting them is much faster.
#5: Painted World of Ariamis (High Level) — Best Farming Spot
The best farming location in the game is actually the Painted World of Ariamis. To reach this secret area, return to the Northern Undead Asylum by interacting with the nest at the top of the Firelink Shrine (step out of the lift going up) and return to the original cell you started in. Take the Strange Doll to the massive optional cathedral in Anor Londo and use it on the painting.
If you equip the Covetous Silver Ring and the Symbol of Avarice (both increase how many souls you earn, and they stack) you can easily earn 10,000 souls in about a minute. You’ll want to find the Phalanx — that big pile of goo with shields and spears. Use a spear or long sword — especially one with magic properties like lightning damage — to cut them down. They’re easy to kill, there are tons of them, and you’re not too far from the closest bonfire. Just kill the phalanx enemies, return to bonfire, rinse and repeat.
